The Olympics Comes to Balsall Heath
Earlier this month, Olympic Silver Medalist and GB Rugby Sevens captain Tom Mitchell visited one of our Path to Paris community organisations. Balsall Heath Children Action Team Support (CATS) provides a range of activity specifically tailored to children with disabilities and complex learning needs. The young people had a great time meeting Tom and developing their rugby skills! Legacy Celebration at Alexander Stadium: A Triumph for Inclusive School SportsAlongside Access Sport, Sport Birmingham welcomed hundreds of primary school children with special educational needs and disabilities to Alexander Stadium.
The aim of the School Games Inclusive Legacy Event was to break down barriers and provide positive experiences of sport and physical activity for the children.
The day included an inspirational Q&A with Olympic champion and Rugby Sevens captain Tom Mitchell and a special appearance from Perry the bull!Sixteen providers including local community groups and national governing bodies delivered a fantastic range of inclusive activities.We would like to extend our thanks to the following:- All our providers and the United By 2022 Volunteer Collective

Funding and Training Update Support for Physical Activity Projects for People with Parkinson's Parkinson's UK are offering grants to help people with Parkinson's to get and stay active. Grants of up to £3,000 are available to support physical activity projects for people with Parkinson's all over the UK. For more information and to apply click here.Barclays Community Football Fund You can apply for an access grant of £1000 to support delivery of your football activities to engage with young people from underrepresented groups. For more information and to apply click here.The Peter Harrison Foundation Grants are offered for sport and physical activity at a grassroots level that enables people across the UK who are physically, mentally, socially or economically disadvantaged to develop personal and life skills to fulfil their potential. For more information, application criteria and to apply click here.The Field Family Charitable Trust Grants are given to registered local charities operating in the West Midlands and London within the boundaries of the M25. Grants range from £1,000 to £5,000 according to the need and the project. Multi-year funding is also considered. The Trustees’ interests lie with projects related to vulnerable young people between the ages of 13-25 and the elderly. Canoe Slalom Support The England Slalom Club Support Scheme fund opens for new applications from eligible England-based Slalom clubs. Clubs can apply for project funding of between £250 - £2000 per project. For more information and to apply click here
Sailing and Yachting Prize Sunsail are running a competition for sailing and yacht clubs to win up to £6000. Competition closes Friday, 31st July 2024. For more information click here.
Table Tennis England DiSE is a two-year programme that gives the opportunity for current and aspiring performance players aged 16-18 who are in full time further education to access the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme. For more information and to apply click here.
