Sport Birmingham has refreshed its strategy to respond to the evolving landscape of local sport and physical activity, ensuring alignment with local, regional and national priorities across sport and health. Building on the legacy of the Commonwealth Games, we are strengthening our focus on the communities and places where need is greatest - working collaboratively to create a more active, healthy and connected Birmingham.
We welcome partnerships with organisations, businesses, communities, and individuals who share our commitment to creating sustainable, long-term impact through sport and physical activity.

You might have seen the latest This Girl Can campaign on TV recently? Groups across the UK are holding Let’s Lift the Curfew activities to support the campaign, amplifying women’s voices to make outdoor sport and physical activity safer and more inclusive for women.
It’s November and the darker nights are closing in. Local groups can support Let’s Lift the Curfew by hosting safe evening activities, joining partner events, and sharing on social media using the hashtag #LetsLiftTheCurfew.
To join the conversation on women’s safety, we'd encourage you to share the Lets Lift the Curfew campaign across your group and personal social channels to shout about your support. Official social media assets are available for use here.

Women & Girls Coaching Festival
Despite positive progress in recent years, women remain underrepresented as volunteers, coaches, and leaders within the sport and physical activity sector. Many women and girls experience barriers such as a lack of visible role models, limited access to training, and inflexible opportunities. In partnership with This Girl Can, we are planning to host a 'Women and Girls Coaching & Leadership Festival’ in April 2026 (final name to be determined). The festival will celebrate and champion women and girls involvement in both community and organised sport and physical activity across Birmingham.
Our aims are to:
- Provide accessible, high-quality learning opportunities for those working with women and girls in the sport and physical activity sector.
- Support and empower more women and girls to step into, and thrive within, volunteer, coaching and leadership roles across the sport and physical activity workforce.
To ensure the festival meets the needs and priorities of our community, we would greatly value your input. Please take a few minutes to complete our short survey to share your thoughts on the current challenges, barriers, and learning priorities for the local women and girls workforce. M.A.D Youth Board Meeting
Last month, the Make A Difference (M.A.D) Youth Panel came together at Sport Birmingham HQ to discuss ideas and plans for future youth initiatives. The panel is made up of passionate young people dedicated to improving youth work and ensuring that the voices of their peers are heard in the design and delivery of M.A.D services. Panel members play a key role in making sure that all programmes including youth camps, clubs and other projects, truly reflect the needs and priorities of local young people. By providing honest feedback and fresh perspectives, the panel helps to shape and challenge how M.A.D operates, ensuring they make a real impact in the community.

Join in the #1 Fundraising Month of 2025!
More online shopping is done in November than any other month of the year - that’s a huge funding opportunity if your club or group is using easyfundraising. If not, there’s no better time to join!
Why? It’s Black Friday month and £1.2bn is expected to be spent online that day in the UK (that’s not including the weeks leading up to it and Cyber Monday which follows). If all those orders were placed via easyfundraising, a small percentage of that total would be turned into free cashback donations - £36m* worth to be exact!
Your members and the wider community WILL be shopping, so make sure they’re raising!
For more information about how it all works you can view this guidance webinar here. Sign up today here.
*based on an average 3% donation rate across all retailers |

Club Welfare Officer Event - We Want to Hear From You!
The Welfare and Safeguarding team at Sport Birmingham are excited to announce plans for a dedicated Club Welfare Officer (CWO) event taking place in January 2026. This gathering will bring together CWOs from across the city and provide an opportunity to connect and learn.
To shape the agenda, we’re inviting you to share your thoughts on what would be most valuable. Whether it’s training topics, discussion themes, networking opportunities, or practical challenges you’d like support with, your input will help us design a meaningful and relevant experience.
The event will also include food and refreshments, offering plenty of opportunity for informal conversation and community-building.
Click here to provide your feedback. The consultation runs until 7th Dec 2025.
