Leading the Way in Badminton
In the run up to the YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships in March, badminton leadership events were held at Billesley Tennis Centre and the Doug Ellis Sports Centre. Students from Small Heath, Bournville, Christchurch, Holyhead, Holte and King Edward's schools attended. The event was a collaboration between Badminton England, School Games and Sport Birmingham. The young people spent the morning learning leadership skills under the guidance of Louise and Emma from Badminton England. These skills will be applied at a young people's badminton festival during the championships. As part of the festival, participants will receive tickets from Badminton England to watch a championship match.

Funded Welfare Pilots
Are you a local sport or physical activity club who could do with some help improving your welfare and safeguarding?
We are funding small pilots that support the improvement of welfare and safeguarding within local clubs and groups, and you could be one of them. The pilots are open to all, but we are especially keen to work with clubs who are affiliated to NGB's. The idea of this offer is for it to be co-designed with your club and tailored to your specific needs.
Examples of things that we can provide support with might include training your coaching team, updating and marketing your policies and procedures, bringing in a consultant to support your committee, or even buying new equipment.
We are holding some introductory information sessions, prior to the formal roll out of the pilots. Why not come along to one of our sessions to find out more. Details as follows:
Wednesday 29th January, 2pm (online session) Monday 3rd February, 6pm (online session)
