The Countdown Is On!š
Our inaugural Sport Birmingham Corporate & Community Padel Championship, will be taking place next month!
This exciting event is hosted in association with Connect Padel Birmingham. It will bring together businesses and community partners from across Birmingham for a professionally managed Team Americano tournament, with plenty of opportunities to compete, connect and enjoy a premium event experience.
Teams will battle it out to become the inaugural Sport Birmingham Padel Champions, lift the Championship Cup and claim the title of Birminghamās Best. Alongside the action on court, participants can enjoy food, entertainment, networking and the chance to win premium prizes from our event partners.
Most importantly, the championship will raise vital funds for Sport Birminghamās Make A Difference programme, helping improve outcomes for young people across the city through sport and physical activity.
Weāre also delighted to welcome Fortune Packaging as our first official sponsor, with photographer and designer Rebekah Ellis capturing the event.
Thereās plenty to look forward to - and our Sport Birmingham Ambassador Dan will even be taking on a 404 push-up challenge, representing the 404 one-to-one sessions delivered through Make A Difference! (check out Dan's 404 Challenge video here)

MAD in Action
The Make a Difference (M.A.D) Team have, as always, been busy over the past few weeks, delivering impactful programmes and activities for young people across Birmingham.
SAFE Impact Report
The SAFE Programme continues to go from strength to strength. Commissioned by Birmingham City Councilās SAFE Taskforce and delivered by Sport Birmingham through M.A.D, the programme provides targeted early intervention and prevention support for young people across Birmingham schools.
Some key stats from the latest SAFE impact report:
ā 119 Young people referred into SAFE
ā 5 School settings reached
ā 12 Social Skills cohorts delivered
ā 797 Total session attendances
ā 100% of surveyed young people would recommend the programme
ā 97% of participants said SAFE helped them overall
ā 84% of participants reported increased confidence

Holiday Activity Fund Camp
Take a look at these photos from the Ark Victoria HAF Camp in Small Heath, which ran across July and August 2026.
Young people enjoyed a fantastic range of activities, including dodgeball, football, arts and crafts and indoor games, alongside a healthy and nutritious lunch each day.
It was great to see so many young people getting active, creative and involved throughout the summer.

Celebrating the City's PlayzonesEarlier this month colleagues from Active Partnerships, Sport England, the Football Foundation, Active Black Country, Substance and London Sport visited some of the PlayZones in Birmingham.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our community organisations to showcase the incredible work they are doing to engage local communities, as well as to collaboratively discuss challenges and identify ways to overcome them.

Athletics FanzoneMembers of the Sport Birmingham team had a stall at the European Athletics Championships' 'Champions Square' Fan Zone, Centenary Square, this month to celebrate this hugely important sporting event for the city.
The team took the opportunity to showcase the Active Birmingham Activity Finder and to highlight the valuable work of our Sport Welfare Team.

Go All InAre you running a sports club, holiday camp or physical activity programme for children this summer? Why not encourage the young people you work with to Go All In 2026 on their favourite hobbies through reading too?
As part of the National Year of Reading, children and young people across Birmingham are being invited to recommend books linked to the hobbies and activities they love - whether that's football, dance, gymnastics, cycling, martial arts, swimming, gardening or anything in between.
The free Active Birmingham Activity Finder platform is a great way to discover hundreds of local activities taking place across the city. Perfect if your youngsters are looking for opportunities to get active locally.
By combining being active with reading, we can help children discover new interests, build confidence and enjoy being active and healthy.

Violence Against Women and Girls Prevention Programme
The Youth Endowment Fundās Violence Against Women and Girls Prevention Programme funds organisations to develop and evaluate approaches that prevent VAWG, including promoting healthy relationships and addressing harmful attitudes and behaviours among young people. For more information click here

The fund supports grassroots sports clubs across England and Wales with grants of up to Ā£3,000 towards equipment, kits, coaching, training, facility hire and initiatives that increase participation. For more information click here
